Dear Washington Elementary Families,
Welcome to a new and exciting 2019-2020 school year at Washington Elementary!  I hope you have enjoyed a great summer vacation.  I am truly honored to continue to serve you as principal of Washington Elementary School.  It is my pleasure to work with students, parents and families that make up this wonderful community.  I am pleased to be part of a faculty and staff committed to providing the best possible education for every child in a safe, learning, respectful and nurturing environment.  Our work together this past year brought progress on many fronts.  Washington was recognized on May 4, 2019 as one of L.A.’s Top Public Schools for underserved students.  This award defines who we are: A school community committed to academic excellence. Our goal is to guarantee equity and access to meaningful learning experiences that prepare every student for success in middle school and beyond. I look forward to working with each and every one of you.  We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in our BOBCATS' education.  We will see you on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 8:40 A.M.  GO BOBCATS!!!

Bienvenidos al nuevo año escolar 2019-2020 en la Escuela Washington! Espero que espero que hayan disfrutado de unas buenas vacaciones de verano.  Es un verdadero honor para mí seguir sirviéndoles como la directora de la Escuela Primaria Washington.  Es un placer de trabajar con los estudiantes, padres y familias que hacen esta maravillosa comunidad.  Estoy orgullosa de ser parte de un personal que está comprometido a proveer la mejor educación posible para cada estudiante en un ambiente de aprendizaje seguro y respetuoso.  Nuestro trabajo juntos el año pasado trajo progreso en muchas áreas.  Nuestra escuela fue reconocida el 4 de mayo del 2019 como una de las escuelas publicas mejores de Los Angeles.  Este reconocimiento define quiénes somos: Una comunidad escolar comprometida con la excelencia académica. Nuestro objetivó es garantizar la equidad y acceso a experiencias de aprendizaje significativas que preparan a cada estudiante para el éxito en la escuela secundaria y en el futuro.  Estoy muy emocionada de seguir trabajando con cada uno de ustedes.  Sabemos que una colaboración fuerte con ustedes hará una gran diferencia en la educación de nuestros BOBCATS.  Nos veremos el primer día de escuela, miércoles, 21 de Agosto, 2019 a las 8:40a.m.  VAMOS BOBCATS!!!

Lynwood USD School Closures and Food Service for Lynwood Community Children Ages 1-18

Hello Washington Families, The Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools has announced that it is recommended that our school closures are extended until at least May 5th. It is very important that you and your child’s teacher are in constant communication. All teachers have been reaching out to students and parents either via email, Google Classroom, Aeries Communication, Remind app, Class Dojo, or personal phone calls. Please make sure that your child is checking his or her email and Google Classroom every day. As always, thank you for your support and we will continue to work together through this unique time. Lynwood Unified will continue to provide food services to the community’s children, ages 1-18, as we work through school closures. Lunch will be served beginning on Monday, March 16, while both breakfast and lunch will be available at five school sites starting on Tuesday, March 17. Meal Pick Up: Serving Days: Mon-Fri-- Breakfast and Lunch will be served together beginning on 3/17 from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. Meals will be obtained through a drive-through service or walk-up for families without vehicle transportation. Children must be physically present to receive a meal. All meals will be taken offsite to decrease the risk of spreading germs.
